Assignments for the week of 1-25-10

Monday: Answer the questions from the See Saw Lab.

Tuesday: Begin studying the mechanical advantage vocabulary. The vocabulary list will be complete on Wednesday, but you may start with the words already in your notes or on quizlet at http://quizlet.com/_11ev3. There will be a quiz on Monday.

Wednesday: Read pages 110-115 and complete the reading guide as you read. Don't forget...vocabulary quiz is on Monday.

Monday: Do mug activity and complete worksheet

Tuesday: Make flashcards for "work" vocabulary and study with them OR study the vocabulary on quizlet at http://quizlet.com/_zqy7.

Wednesday: Read pages 106-109 and answer questions 104 (p. 109) in your notebook. Be sure to use full sentences and correct spelling.

Homework for week of 12/14/09

Monday: No homework.

Tuesday: You can start on the Winter Break extra credit homework. Finish reading the story we started in class. You can find the story at http://www.childrenslibrary.org/icdl/SaveBook?bookid=chelord_00150074&lang=English&ilang=English. Write a review of the story, giving a summary. Would you recommend that other kids read this story? Why or why not? THIS IS EXTRA CREDIT. Due when you return from Winter Break (January 4).

Wednesday: Sane as last Wednesday's homework, since the 5th grade Science Symposium was postponed. (This homework is due on Thursday, December 17).

Homework for week of 12/7/09

Monday (Due Tuesday, 12/8/09): finish your notes for the introductory paragraph on the Intertidal Zone.

Tuesday (Due Wednesday, 12/9/09): finish/fix/edit/neaten-up any parts of your group's brochure that will allow you to turn in your very best effort on Wednesday.

Wednesday (Due Thursday, 12/10/09): Write a paragraph critiquing the 5th grade Science Symposium presentation you were assigned. Be careful about sentence structure, grammar, and spelling. Be positive: what worked really well and why. Be critical: what advice for a change could you make and why. Be a thinker: What question do you have for the presenter(s)?

(1) A hand-drawn picture and an informational paragraph about one organism from your intertidal zone. You will do this for a total of four organisms by Wednesday, December 9.
